Yes, on New Years Eve 2025, I was forced to move out of ParkMerced, out by State College. I was evicted because the woman I lived with assaulted me and almost killed me. Before that she tried to burn the room that I occupied while I was in it. So she had a restraining order not to come to the house and not to alter anything on the place, the locks specifically. Well she tried anyways, but something told me to keep a window open. So after that I changed the locks myself. I still lived there for about 5 yrs waiting to go to court. And when I did, they ..hundreds of thousands of dollars bill and then put it in my name. But I could not afford to pay the rent. So I had until 12/31/2025 to be out. With 3 days no car cause someone set it on fire, and no one who cared enough to help me or direct me the right directions. I feel really cared about when I come here. I don’t feel so alone.

I've been evicted once, I was given 15 days to be out with my children, due to my alcohol and drug use. I was not the only person using, but due to the housing …they did not like. It's who can they find, and if you know the right people you didn’t get picked to random drug test. I got picked to random drug test not one time, but three times, as I passed the first two test. The third unfortunately I didn’t pass. So my kids and I moved to a motel, then my girlfriend's house. Still using I just ..I’m still fighting .. and Thank you for everything.

My family looks down on me because I'm not fat. My family kicked me out while I was in college. It became very hard for me to stay in school while I was homeless.

Hello Family
My name is Shortymac. I'm filipino …born in the Philippines and adopted and brought here to America and petitioned by my adopted father who served in the Army. I thought coming here to America was gonna make me the happiest human on this earth. Not realizing my life was about to go downhill because I came from an abusive situation to the next. That had me thinking I was born cursed, but I learned I am just a victim of my circumstances where eviction exist. The hardest part to cope with was being a single parent and a green card holder. I ran away from my abusive and sexual harassment family. I became homeless and adapted being in an abusive relationship, then got pregnant, no where to go, no where to run, and that’s when my life became hopeless and I thought my life was never gonna get better. And as soon as I got evicted my life keep going downhill without hope except drugs was my only solution, but now I have been saved and now I have hope because of Homefulness S.F. Poor magazine

Our Room
I was in this beautiful room with a huge ceiling. It was just my mom and I, always the two of us. As long as I can remember it was the two of us. I was so happy because after so long we had a roof …could call ours. No fear of someone walking in on us sleeping because it was their garage, and could come in and out whenever they wanted. No more feeling like food… been out too long, unwanted in someone’s home. No more feeling like an intruder. A home. Oh who is this? My sister? That’s awesome, I'm so happy. What did he say? My mom has to pay more so that her daughter can live with us? Oh, thankfully it’s not so much. Wait, what? He said she needs to go? But she’s a kid, just like me. Where will she go? My mom so brave, she said no one would separate them again. He said, my mom doesn’t have to go, only my sister. What? He said since she want to go now we must all leave? But our room, our ceiling. My stuff in boxes again, my life packed so quickly. Where? Oh, where? Will we go mom?

Good day
Well when I first seen the subject I would write on, I was, “Oh no!” Then I realized, wait, “these stories are what make and break us, not divide or mesh us together.”
In other words, to, "humble our definition of, “that’s not fair’. It was at a nice apt., in the late 90’s. I had lived in “Little Saigon.”
It’s a really eclectic neighborhood, full of “life.” I received my eviction, with proper dates.
They were upgrading and raising the rent. We were given a nice offer of quite a bit of money to leave, all I needed was the co-signers signature on the papers. Well faxing or email wouldn’t do. So, I thought, why don’t I sign the “papers.” It's my real mom’s signature. Well, I got caught, admitted it “right away.” They kept the money. “Where did it go?” (the offer or deposit) Before I knew it, there were three sheriffs, and the landlord at my door. (Of course I was given notice, but I still said, “what!”)
I got my meager belongings ☹️told I can come back in a couple of days to get the rest of my belongings.
The universal morals of the story.--------”Do Not ignore notices w/dates on them)
—-Do not forge anyone’s name, please!
Keep “your head up.” The process of getting a place will happen again! (soon)
Thank you- Peace and love Hearts Angelique M Cruz, wiser2day4u@gmail.com

I never thought I would be evicted for a third time, but it happened. My landlord lying on my family with lies that you would think that the EDC and judge would see his lying but they did not, so now me and my family are now on the street once more. So a month ago, I saw no hope. I was waiting to die hoping that it would happen quickly, but I don’t have luck like that. But I came to Homefulness and who would have known I would …people and one beautiful lady we call Junebug who would give me hope again. She makes sure I’m doing things that help me, that give me hope that I will find a new place to live. This is a good place to be, to have a meal, to talk to someone who is willing to listen, to care about me, then in turn makes me care about myself and others.
Life is hard enough nowadays, but with a place like this you can get a new hope on life.

I was evicted from student housing due to Financial Aid being suspended, due to my grades not being up to par, and they won’t offer education aid for someone struggling with an education setback.
Michael Silva
I’ve been in S.F. around 8 yrs. Been on streets struggling on and off. Recently got housing, but I have a substance abuse problem. Don’t know how long I have it. Only time will tell. Only times will Tell. I was born in Sacramento. I had my own house, but went through a divorce and my life changed for the worst.

Month: Now years without my home, my kid’s.. I also lost my full time job of being a stay @ home mother. The worse part of it all. I don’t get to be a mother. I feel like there is no going back. Or no way back. I’ve lost hope & feel I’ll never be able to be the only thing I can do right. And being a mother. As a mother I am drug free, on time, and have a purpose to wake up & have a schedule. Now on the streets, time doesn’t matter and it is different out here. 1 year to you is a day to me. 200 ..days all into 1. I hope my time is not lost here. I pray I don’t die out here. I hope I can tuck in my children once more & I know my kids cry for the same!
HOMEFULNESS ♥️
By: A person who used to Matter to 2 kids.
Let me start by saying, me being evicted changed my life completely. I went from being a stay at home mother, 2 amazing children, to running the streets with nowhere to call home & unknowing my children who now reside with their father. I was wrongfully evicted during COVD 19. Due to the fact of asking my landlord to fix the slum conditions we lived in at the time of the separation with my “baby daddy”. I don’t know why my voice wasn’t heard, why a judge wouldn’t see the false documents my landlord made. Why I didn’t matter, if I need somewhere to rest my head with my children.

My first eviction was when I was…16teen, 1986. What a year. I was still in high school. I had long hair down to my ass and had some Levis jeans that were ripped all up. Leather jacket with all my favorite bands and me and my friends looked a bit motley so lanDlorDS DID not like us at all. We played loud satanic music and partys with bands playing. We were thrashing all around in the house making holes in the wall and are heads. So yo, we got evicted.
Joshua Taylor
My name is Joshua Taylor. I’m 37 years old and currently suffering from homelessness. Unfortunately, my decision making in life has led me to serving a significant amount of my adulthood incarcerated. From jails/prisons to court ordered treatment programs. This has also led me to be on probation or parole my entire adulthood. In 2015, I was living in Rohnert Park, CA in a nice 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse overlooking a golf course with my girlfriend. The complex we lived in was overseen by a H.O.A. (Home Owners Association). I was on parole at the time and working full time in the Glaziers union. Parole had a hard on for me and would come do house check ups on average 4 times a month, which is a lot more than normal. At times they would come in full force with about 10+ officers dressed in full tactical gear, in patty wagon. They would surround my house and use a battering ram to come knock down my door. This led to the H>O>A having a meeting upon my behalf and decided to make me move because of too much police activity. This led to me being on the streets.

I was evicted from my apartment in Sacramento after I was told I had owed money from a previous lease the year before. I supposedly owed money from the application for $45, but since I was also in case the rent that .. was supposed to be wavered. I returned to pay as I had to figure out..and ended up after not being able to pay for storage.

What happened to people living a purposeful life. Where people are not judged by the color of skin..but the color of your heart. I was on the verge of getting evicted and put in touch with resources where the people's hearts are the color of caring.
Danny
My name is Danny and I’ve been evicted 4 times. Twice in Florida, in Tampa and Saint Petersburg. I was evicted for partying too much and the neighbors complained all the time. In Saint Petersburg, me and my old lady broke up and so I couldn’t afford the rent anymore, so I stayed as long as I could. I’ve been evicted in L.A, in Venice Beach and I guess it wasn’t an eviction we were raided. So we were forced out. I’ve been evicted for not paying because I got really sick, and I had 2 open heart surgeries and I have plastic valves in my heart and I’ve been living in 24th and Utah for the last 20 years and the place was o.k at first. It has gotten so bad there. My roof leaks and there’s black mold and bathroom are fucking nasty as hell. There are mice that have been there so long I named them. J/K. But the place is nasty, so I need to sue before I get evicted again for not paying. I’m on S.S.I. I don’t have a problem not paying but it’s so nasty I stopped paying and the owner is a straight slumlord Thank U!

My uncle moved out and left me the apartment we lived in. Then for the following 3 months I did nothing but try to support my heroin habit, and had friends and all kinds of random street people in and out of the apartment because of my addiction to shooting heroin. Because my care for nothing else this situation became out of control very quickly.

Eviction In The East Bay
So around March of 2023 I separated from my ex of 7 years. When all the dust settled, I decided to move from Oregon back to a place I felt where my soul belonged. The Town, a tru melting pot thriving with living culture fit enough for my alternative and radical mind. Plus, I had lived in the west for 5 years prior my son …even born there. Anyway…I found a place in my budget, communicated with the landlord for a little while, and he said all the right things. So I was sold. Gathered 3 months rent to pay in advance, signed the lease and made my journey down into a new spot. When I arrived I was met with a dilapidated building built in 1919, that at most had a fresh coat of paint poorly splashed on the interior walls. Since I’m not one to complain, I said, let's do it. Forward 3 months and 6K in rent and deposits, re-acclimation in solo life, enrolling in school and film to make it work, and lost but most important, the struggle to find work…I became 1 month behind, let's not forget I handed this landlord 6 thousand dollars upfront.. 1 month and he filed for eviction. No sympathy, no grace period…Just pages and pages of legal jargon, with nothing said to help my cause.
He had served over and over for the smallest of fixable mistakes, well in ..I stayed. I stayed until a year later the Alameda SO, came in brute force to force me, just me and a single rooms worth of stuff in a building in collapse definitely not up to code…For what? So the cycle of taking from the less fortunate could continue. Rent IS THEFT! is the moral of my story.

My family was forced to immigrate here to Frisco in the 80’s. Their first home was here in the Mission. All women, matriarchs trying to survive with their babies. They faced possible deportation, my mom while she was pregnant. They were put out & displaced form our home which now is one of the wealthiest parts of the city. It’s crazy when we once…Indigenous bodies. I don’t think people understand the lands we are on. Walking the same streets, over the years, a feeling less & less like home.. The cycle of colonization & gentrification continues, our bodies policed and disposed. When your home is no longer home. Eviction. Displacement. Gentrification. San Francisco.
Antonio Wildflower
Currently in a room, but I have had to rush out of previous housing. I lived in a different room than when I was with a partner. We split the rent but when she and I split up, I couldn’t handle the money for the rent alone. It was in the Mission. I lasted a few months until I was forced to move. I lost a bunch of my belongings, slept outside at different friends' houses or literally just walked all night sometimes and slept during the day. I still have an eviction on my name which makes it hard to get housing. I do not like my current house, but do not have a way to change it yet, but I’m thankful still.

EVICTION
Being evicted can create profound hardships for people and families. Losing a home brings financial stress from moving costs, deposits, storage, and temp housing. Eviction may disrupt employment, education & medical care. Emotional toll can include anxiety, shame, fear and uncertainty. Finding new housing is harder when landlords consider eviction records, income, or poor credit. Yet eviction does not define my self worth or future. Relatives, advocates, legal aid and housing programs can affect support, compassionate policies and community assistance help us regain stability and rebuild our lives.

Six years ago my friends Pete, Sean, and Emilio were living in what we all assumed would be, what I believe we all considered to be, the closest thing to true freedom. We had all answered a craigslist ad for a dream opportunity. Each of us living aboard our own, according to the ad, “certified sea-worthy vessel”. At first, of course, it was just as one would imagine, aside from the danger of any real concerning level of inclement weather, as well as the calmest sea, with the biggest swells being the wake from periodic passes of large container ships as they approached the massive docks in Oakland. After all, part of what was such a let down was when we were notified that we had been conned into our living situation. Much to our surprise when the Coast Guard showed up and forced us all to abandon our houses all of the sudden one day.

Eviction
Homelessness in San Francisco. I was evicted from my apartment 12 years ago. I was jobless and could’t find a job for a govt 2 years. I got very sick. It was illness I caught. I was medically …I couldn’t work for the 2 years. I was unable to work in which made it so difficult in working. I could not meet the obligation in time in which rent. I could not pay which to fighting eviction. The time I was trying to pay …those rents not only the rent but other bills; utility and other bills. It took a few or many years trying to solve our problems until we finally came to negotiation.

I haven’t been evicted, but I’ve been put in a housing that isn’t safe cause too much drugs . So because I’m trying to live a sober life now that I’m 69 year’s old ,and I believe a home should be your sanctuary. All I want to b able to meet my grandkids and live the rest of my years in peace. Thank you, and I’m so glad I came today. I made contact with family. Ps. I love what you Folks’

My Eviction
I was living in a house with roommates and everything was great. The landlord lived downstairs. Then one day the landlord came to me and said, "I have to leave”. I said, “For what?” They said for doing cocaine in the house. I could not believe it. What happened was one of my roommates whom I was intimate with got mad at me because I did not want to continue relations. She told the landlord that I was doing cocaine. The landlord said that they saw me doing coke, but that was impossible. She told them and got me kicked out. I had to leave. They gave me one day to get all my stuff out. I was young and did not know the rules, so I was forced to leave. I had to give most of my stuff away and lost several things and was homeless for five months after that.

2015 I was evicted from the hotel after a problem with a noisy neighbor. 16thSt + Treat St. I didn’t get legal help because of the “economical crisis” those organizations didn’t have ..of the government. So I was in the street in the winter season. Plus 15 years in the street living. Now I got room on Cesar Chavez and Valencia. Thanks to the People fighting homeless interests

To whom it belong to
And to where I once lived
To work so hard for many years to remain housed. To have as little as nothing but something more than before. …Seek love and protect to finally have 4 walls and roof and door with a key that I can finally call my own. To thrive beyond ..to seek life and still be forgotten. To understand that it is more to live than just dream. To be displaced from birth, where do I go from here. Now that I have, I have to carry and work for it at the reach of someone else's hands.
Learn to carry life not material things. And to know all I have is what I carry in my heart and what's been instilled in me as a child from my big grandmother and grandfather. And as long as I’m here, they can take everything from me but they can’t take away my peace, nor can they steal away my faith. To worry about if I’m going to become homeless in the near future is the scariest thing because I’ve been in every shelter in SF prior to being housed 17 ½ years ago. Now the housing manager threatening to take my house but I know it one that ..and looks ..And through the most high he will always have the last say. So with that I must remain ..respectful and loving. Sometimes that all we have to live for another day.

2015. I was just freshly divorced, lost my job, and couldn’t pay rent anymore. So my landlord let me “let myself go”. That was the crumbly start to this life I’m living right now. I had nowhere to go, nowhere to take my stuff. I tried getting help. Housing list was insanely long. I never have had my own place since then. To really put it in a better picture losing my home was the start of all of my drug use, jail time, probation. The minute I think things can be okay, it always ends up blowing up in my face. I feel very lonely most of the time because of it, no matter how many times things partially look up. Then something else happens. The greatest blessing of all would be the landlord letting me”let myself go”.

No me siento tan solo.

Yo había vivido en "Little Saigon".

No sé cuánto tiempo durará.

Desalojo
Personas sin hogar en San Francisco. Me desalojaron de mi apartamento hace 12 años. Estaba desempleado y no pude encontrar trabajo durante 2 años. Me enfermé gravemente.

No podía creerlo.

A quién pertenece

Nunca he tenido mi propio Desde entonces, no he estado en ningún sitio.
