"Since Bush has been in office I have had to work 50-60 hours per week to help my daughters and sons raise their children," Words of knowledge poured out of the mouth of Dorothy Harris as she spoke at a hearing on Saturday, May 22nd on the state of welfare in light of the severe budget cuts facing California and the nation in 2004, she ended with the poignant, "They are trying to break our spirit, I won't let them break our spirit.."

"Excuse me Ma’am, you need to board in the front of the bus, Ma’am did you hear me? – you need to get on in the front of the bus……Ma’am….Ma’am…!!"

At the last angry command, the more than a little bent over African descendent elder who wore only one duck-taped shoe and a pair of soiled pink polyester pants, mumbled a frightened response to the ground. In one very weathered hand she clutched a ball of fabric that was her waistband, and in the other a fragment of air where a purse, cane or other acroutremount used to dwell.

race privledge
Seized education at all costs
Achieving degrees and promises to life of supposed ease
Brought down by colonizers
Dressed as landlords and supervisors
Art is her arsenal, dreams, her breath

He was standing there, his swollen fingers holding onto the wrought iron grate in front of the building. As he opened his chapped lips into smile - one proud tooth glistened out of a dark mouth

"Join us" I yelled into him while clutching my banner.

"Stop the Unfair Evictions" The group of several hundred marchers yelled in unison behind me.
